For Audrey

This bunny is for Audrey. I took many, many more today, but I have to go to bed now. Today was the ribbon cutting for the new building at the shelter. Both sad and happy. It felt like yellow rain all day.

Lunch time is always good.

Today contained the best gifts, and I don't want to leave here.

Home Again With Dogs (and Anthony)

It was so good to be with Michele, and Audrey, and Chris. Twelve years ago she was teaching me to eat jellybeans with chopsticks, sitting at our elevated counter drinking coffee in the morning. It is a treasure having friends who you have known through so many changes.

Dogs didn't seem to miss me. Disappointing. I was hoping for an ecstatic homecoming from them. Instead I got a few tail wags. Anthony was much better than them.

Portfolio Review and Gay Pride

Portfolio reviews were excellent, and WAHOOO—Gay Pride Parade is the same day.

Jackie Lander from New York Magazine giving my work a review. A great critique!

Audrey has nightmares about sharing.

NYC. Old Friends.

A lovely afternoon with Audrey, Michele and Chris. We play some variety of hide and seek, where the hide portion is debatable. Then we go to the Highlands Park and walk around. We have noodles for dinner and Michele and I go to the bakery for dessert.

I've got my portfolio review in the morning. I am kind of nervous, although Anthony clarifies that I am the one paying them. He says that would be like going into a restaurant and being nervous about what the waitress thought of you.

New Things In The Yard

Lost tennis balls and monkey feet with blisters. He says he can type 30 words per minute with them and I believe it.

Animal Control

Today I rode along with Animal Control. We drove close to 150 miles, responded to 13 calls, and picked up 5 cats. When I was leaving the shelter, there was a family dropping off three 1 week old kittens that they "found". Their son, no more than 5, told me the kittens weren't going to like me. He started to talk about 100 year old dogs who were able to touch Jesus, while his sisters kept poking the kittens in their cage. I didn't like them.

mosquito bites

Mosquito bites and beautifully lived in yards. Yellow to blue skies and pictures that are much better in my mind.

Shaving Dooright

This took the better part of the day. Then dinner at the diner.

Lula Belle on a Saturday

Lula hates my camera. She checks to see if I am still in the room, while Anthony thinks about sleeping.

Cats escaping and dogs chasing.

Thursday, June 17.

With humidity dripping, and yellow-green Thursday afternoons, I humbly admit it was my fault too. (Black pepper fried fish still in my belly. You were showing me a rubber banded problem half-way solved.)

Wednesday, June 16

Delores. She has ticks. Her ribs and tailbone are visible. Worst of all, she is not spayed, and has had at least one litter of puppies. I imagine a hunting dog who ran away, or was let go.

Either way, damn humans.

Tuesday, June 15.

Mandy comes over and we talk well past the time the dogs, and Anthony, have gone to sleep.

The sun rays didn't shine the way I wanted them to in our morning run.

Monday, June 14

House cleaning falls through. Back to the drawing board.

Sunday, June 13.

Damn kitten (Rotten) got to the bluebird house again. This time we move the bird house. But for now, it is on the floor of the garage.

Backtracking. Favorties since May 2010.

As the first post, here are a few of my favorites since May 1, 2010.

Each post from here on out will be an excerpt from my visual journal. Some of these images may make their way into larger bodies of work (i.e. SILENT HOME, BREEDING IGNORANCE, MILKBONES) But many won't.

Any feedback is warmly welcomed.
